Justin Rohde

Hi! I'm Justin, and I create software.

I've loved to code ever since I taught myself HTML as a teenager. Since then, I’ve done some of almost everything: web, desktop, mobile, 3D graphics, backend... you name it.

I’m an aerospace aficionado as well. I earned my B.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University in 2006. I hold a private pilot certificate, and love to fly when I have time.

Outside my professional work, I’m usually tinkering with some coding or multimedia project in my spare time.

I began my career at a small aerospace company in Wisconsin, designing propellant tanks and other launch vehicle components under an Air Force contract. I further developed my coding skills to support that work, and that was when software development really became a passion for me.

Later, I took an opportunity in mobile software development, but in the (very!) different world of enterprise consulting. For the past decade I have been developing apps and systems that integrate with Oracle software. I work with business analysts and end-users to create a tailored experience for each client.

My entire aim is to make the user experience the best it can be, whether it's providing a new and streamlined way to interface with existing systems, or adding capabilities that didn't exist before.

I work most often with the following technologies:

  • RFgen: an app development platform that integrates with major enterprise systems.
  • EnterpriseOne Business Services (BSSV) and Application Integration Services (AIS): web service frameworks that integrate with Oracle software.
  • Dell Boomi: an integration platform that connects data from disparate systems.

Other projects have allowed me to develop for Android and the web, with purposes ranging from asset location tracking to mobile work order entry.

I love to code in my free time too! This website exists primarily to showcase recent projects I have published:

LogMate for JDE

I wrote this desktop app to help me with my everyday work. I needed a better parser for Oracle logs than was available, and also wanted to generate code I could use in other applications. I figured I may as well give it a modern interface while I was at it!

Space: The Game!

"Space: The Game!" for iOS and iPadOS is now available on the App Store!

It started with a simple idea to guide a spaceship around planets using gravity, and evolved into a complete game featuring puzzle-like gameplay with multi-level missions, enemies, and power-ups.

This has been enormously satisfying, as I've had the opportunity to use many of my skills in combination: graphic design, coding, interface design, and physics. It has also included some web design and audio/video production.
